A southern ground hornbill hatched on 12th July 2017.
To increase its chances of survival, it is artificially brought up by its keeper, Régine. This one applies a particular rearing method, without impregnation to the man, in order to not alter the future behavior of the animal.
The chick opens the eyes only 12 days after its hatching. So, from this date, it is placed in an artificial nest warmed, situated in a room where it can hear the singing exercises of its parents. The feeding is then realized so that the chick does not see nor hears its keeper. To do it, she uses a puppet just like the parents to feed it….
